File Uploads

Please read our computer file specifications page BEFORE uploading files. PDF or PSD files are the most likely to reproduce as expected. However, extra or hidden layers WILL create problems. Visible layers in Photoshop files should be flattened into a single layer. When converting to PDF in other software packages, make sure all fonts have been converted to outline and all hidden layers removed.

This uploader will accept files of up to 20 MB each, with the following extensions:

  • Preferred file type: pdf or psd - make sure all hidden layers have been removed before sending. Flatten visible layers in Photoshop to a single layer.
  • Generic Images: jpg, jpeg, gif, bmp, png, tff, tiff, eps
  • Generic Text: txt, rtf
  • Fonts: Please convert all fonts to outline. If you must send fonts, zip into a single archive with the file extension "zip" before uploading.
  • Indesign: indd - make sure your document does not contain hidden layers or require plugins.
  • Illustrator: ai, eps - make sure your document does not contain hidden layers.
  • Freehand: fh2, fh3, fh4, fh5, fh50, fh6, fh7, ft8, fh9, fh10, fh11 - convert all fonts to outline and flatten the document into a single layer.
  • Quark: please read our computer file specifications for help saving as eps or exporting to pdf.
  • Photoshop: psd - flatten to a single layer before uploading.
  • PowerPoint: please read our computer file specifications for help saving to PDF
  • Publisher: please read our computer file specifications for help saving as TIFF
  • Office/Open Office: doc, docx, xls, xlsx - convert to pdf, unless you are sending raw data for us to typeset for you. Do NOT send files containing macros, scripts or linked documents.
  • IWork: (numbers, pages) Convert to pdf using Acrobat Distiller (NOT the Mac Print to PDF option) or export to text so we can typeset for you.

If your files are larger than the form accepts, please bring them to our Hadley store on a CD.

The list above includes the file types we are generally able to open and work with. We may be able to open other file types; send an email with your question and we can schedule a time to look at them together.
